This was my first year ever participating in the stair climb that took place at FDIC 2014 in Indianapolis, Indiana! I participated on behalf of Captain Brian Hickey FDNY Rescue 4! Last year I suffered a major injury to my leg that had arterial damage. So this was quite an experience for myself & others that knew me to do this! Although I didnt know Captain Hickey, I know his family would be proud knowing someone was thinking of him & his couragous effort during the attack of world trade center! Captain Brian Hickey "Rescue Company 4" you maybe gone but will never be forgotten!

On Sept. 11, 2011 I participated in the 10th Anniversary Memorial Stairclimb here in Spokane, in memory of FF Ronnie Gies, Squad 288. It was a true honor to represent this brave hero, but I was overcome with the desire to do something that would honor each and every one of the 343 brothers who made the ultimate sacrifice. So, on Oct. 21, 2012 I set out on a quest to do 343 memorial climbs before I retire. I typically climb in the morning before going on shift, and the following morning after getting off shift. I climb at least 110 stories, and carry with me the photo badge of a different FDNY brother each day. I have been climbing now for 16 months, and have completed nearly 200 climbs, averaging 146 stories per climb. I expect to finish my quest sometime in the spring of 2015. "Rest in peace"!

I did the stair climb for the first time. It was something I struggled with. I weigh 330 lbs so I was unsure if it was a good thing for me to do or not. I have friends that are volunteer firefighters so I really wanted to walk with them. I enjoyed doing the climb and encourage people to do it even if you don't think you can complete it. I was overjoyed to be able to honor those from 343 and to push myself more than I ever have.

I climbed in honor of Captain Brian C. Hickey, FDNY Rescue 4.

If the family of Captain Hickey sees this, please know that I was overwhelmed with emotion as I climbed those stairs. This was my first stair climb. I must admit that there were 2 times where I wanted to quit because of the pain in my knees and shortness of breath, but in my heart, I knew I could not, because all I could think about as I looked up those stairs I was climbing was - there's no fire - there's no smoke - there's no people running down frantically. I could only imagine what Captain Hickey was seeing on that tragic day and I knew I had to continue and finish this climb for him and the others that were lost on that tragic day.

I am the son of a retired firefighter of 36 years. We were blessed because my dad came home after every call, after every shift.

To Captain Hickey's family, I wanted to do this climb to let you know, we will NEVER forget. I will not. I can not.

God bless the Hickey family, I thank you for Captain Hickey's service.

Dear Julie, I just read your response about Pete. I was with Pete just before we both dashed toward the WTC. We were both getting our gear on, Pete had his trademark unlit cigar in his mouth. We both left the quarters of Engine and Ladder 10, directly across the street from the south tower. As we raced out, I turned for a second to get a halligan tool, Pete kept on going and within seconds the south tower collapsed, Pete was instantly killed. in the showering debris of this unexpected collapse. That day, Pete was on medical leave from a previous fire in the Bronx, our medical office is not too far away for response. Pete shot over into Manhattan and while donning PPE he left a note in the firehouse to his family in one of the lockers that was found a day or so after 9/11. Before 9/11 I drove Pete and his dynamic crew Ladder 42 on occasion as they were staioned in my firehouse as their joint was undergoing repairs. Pete has a very close family and I am sure they will truly honor your thoughts and dedication to the memory of Pete. I will recall our light hearted chats at the kitchen table and fireground, always with his signature cigar, I pray he is comfortable upstairs and has a long beautiful unlit cigar he cherished. Rest in peace Pete.

As a retired FDNY FF who was banged up on 9/11, but for the Grace of God survived, I wish to thank all the dedicated stair climbers on behalf of the FDNY who have made the pledge to "never forget" the 343 firefighters killed on Sept 11, 2001. Today (Sept 8, 2013) I had the honor to observe the 9/11 Stair Climb hosted by the Binghamton FD. I was extremely impressed with the turnout, dedication and passion that the brothers and sisters brought to this event. A huge thank you to Chris and his fellow firefighters for "remembering". I also want to congratulate and salute my good friend and brother FF Philly B from the DCFD who suceessfully completed the stair climb in Charlotte this past weekend and continues to honor the 343 every year with his bagpipes. Thank you.

As an employee of Oshkosh Corporation I participated in the 9-11 Stair Climb for Fallen Firefighters Foundation on July 14, 2013 at Lambeau Field. A fellow employee/fireman told me about this event. I am so glad that he did.

I climbed in memory of Firefighter Peter A. Bielfeld - Ladder 42. Thinking of what Peter and the rest of the firefighters gave on that day will not be forgotten. My prayers are with Peter and his family and all firefighters that lost their lives on that day.

I was told that because of the "great" turnout for a first time event this is going to be an annual event. Looking forward to next year! I have more friends that will do it with me next year..

As an employee of Oshkosh Corporation I was invited to participate in the Lambeau Field Ladder Climb on July 14th 2013, I jumped at the opportunity and am so glad I did. I climbed in memory of John D Marshall, Firefighter with Engine 23. As I completed each lap it seemed the temperature rose and my legs shook more; but, all I had to do was look down at the photo of John D Marshall hanging from my shirt to get the motivation to continue on. Thinking of John and the hundreds of other firefighters that lost their lives on September 11th made this event truly special and I feel honored that I was able to be a part of it. I cannot imagine what John’s family must have gone through and I will continue to pray for John and his family as he now holds a special place in my heart. I would love to share pictures with the family of John D Marshall so if interested please reach out to me and remember your loved one is not forgotten about.

On Sunday July 14th I had the honor of Climbing Lambeau's stairs in honor of Firefighter Joseph R. Rivelli Jr. My self and two other firefighters from Port Washington WI decided to do the climb in Full turn out gear and air packs. It was an honor to be a part of this event. After completing the climb the amount of respect I had for the great men and women involved in 9/11 grew greatly. We will never forgot what they did, we will never forget these heroes. It was truly an honor to climb for Joseph Rivelli Jr.

On a hot Sunday this July, I joined in the 9-11 memorial stair climb at Lambeau Field - home of the Green Bay Packers. My dad and I climbed together, and I am so glad we did it. It was an honor to memorialize Lieutenant Daniel O'Callaghan and the 342 other firefighters who bravely risked their lives on that fateful day in 2001.

I participated in my first stair climb this past Sunday at Lambeau Field. On this day, I climbed in honor of Thomas Holohan Engine 6. Choosing to go full gear was more than a challenge. Thinking of how these men did this is beyond imagineable. God Bless each and every one of them. I will continue this tradition in honor of our Brothers, as we never will forget!

It was an honor to participate in this event to honor all of those who had fallen during the tragic event in America on 9/11. I climbed this day in honor of Captain Patrick J. Waters (Haz-Mat 1). The day was humbling and memorable as climbers completed the equivalent of 110 stories of stairs at Lambeau Field and rang a bell and shouted out each fallen hero's name on lap four.

To the family of Firefighter Douglas E. Oelschlager of Ladder 15,
Yesterday I participated in the Lambeau stair climb in memory of Firefighter Oelschlager and other fallen firefighters hero's.
It was a small gesture to honor and remember the memory of so many brave and giving individuals.
In the 1980's I worked at a firm on the 97-101 floor of the WTC and commuted to it daily. It gives me a personal appreciation what the firefighters walked into and continues to strike me as unfathomable how so many were taken from us in minutes. My thoughts are with your family, may Firefighter Oelschlager's memory be only a blessing.

In memory of Gary Box, Squad 1, NYFD.

I participated in the Lambeau Field Stair Climb, Green Bay, WI as part of the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel Team. It was 82 degrees, hot and humid under a blazing sun. I completed the equivalent of 110 stories, to pay tribute to Gary's service. We will never forget. Thanks for the opportunity!

Sunday July 14 2013, I joined my team from the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel Appleton, WI and climbed the stairs at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. We were doing this to honor all of the fallen firefighters, however I was representing Frank J. Bonomo from Engine 230. This was a truly memorable & worthwhile event. Ringing the bell on story 78 gave me chills as I thought of the fallen fighters who struggled to get to that point, and knowing I completed 110 stories was a rewarding experience. RIP to all of our fallen firefighters, and prayers to their families. 9/11 Never Forget!
